Throughout history one solid record of human thought has not only persisted, but flourished, and that record is Music. 
But what is Music?  The need for it is inherent in all cultures across the globe.  Perhaps Music is "The Unanswerable Question" which composer Leonard Bernstein speaks of in his book by the same title. 

In the early twentieth century, aspiring EthnoMusicologist, Alan Lomax drove endlessly across the developing heartland of America. Everywhere he stopped, he recorded song and spoken word of the people indigenous to the land.  He concluded that "Song Voice" is as necessary as "Spoken Voice" across all societies.

Music in our modern society can be likened to that of a double helix in the DNA strand; binding.  The presence of it is unavoidable as one journeys through the day.  And thanks to the Web, Ipods, HD radios and yes even CD's (for those of you who still have discmans), one is never far from their daily influx of sound. However, no matter how tricky the technology gets, a good song is a good song.  You know it when you hear it, and you hear it when you think of it.

TheLocalOcean.com is a "Podcast" that was created by long time radio host and musician Jonas Bowen.  The show seeks out individuals involved in writing, recording and mastering the art form of the Song, the Album, or just the Jam; in turn to be shared with others to perhaps answer that "Unanswerable Queston".
